SHORT SUMMARY

In this AfPH webinar, speakers explored how digital tools, remote monitoring, artificial intelligence, and online support are reshaping care for people living with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The session focused on practical innovations already being used or studied, from home-based exercise programmes and remote six-minute walk tests to mobile apps, wearable devices, and patient-centred digital resources. The webinar featured insights from Ciara McCormack on tele-rehabilitation and home-based exercise, Steve van Wormer on the HeartWorks app and its global PH resources, Dr Paula Appenzeller on remote monitoring technologies and the future of continuous disease tracking, and Dr Gregg Rawlings on online mental health resources and peer support for people affected by PH. Together, the presentations showed how digital health can help improve access, support self-management, and generate more meaningful real-world data. The discussion also highlighted an important message: technology should not replace human care, but strengthen it. The most effective solutions will be those developed collaboratively with patients, clinicians, researchers, and advocacy organisations, ensuring that innovation remains practical, inclusive, trustworthy, and focused on improving everyday life with PAH.
