“Second souffle” (Second breath), a graphic novel about living with pulmonary arterial hypertension, just published by the French Pulmonary Hypertension Association HTaPFrance

We are thrilled to share a remarkable project undertaken by the French Pulmonary Hypertension Association, HTaPFrance. In collaboration with the talented author, Thomas Penin, they have brought to life a poignant story through a graphic novel. The graphic novel revolves around a fictional woman patient grappling with pulmonary arterial hypertension. The protagonist embarks on a journey to seek answers to her symptoms, all while choosing to keep her struggles hidden from her partner. As the protagonist’s health declines, her partner becomes increasingly anxious, witnessing the changes in her behaviour and well-being. The narrative beautifully explores the emotional complexities of living with a chronic condition and the impact it has on relationships. Throughout the 56 pages of this captivating graphic novel, the protagonist evolves, learning to adapt her daily life to find joy and fulfilment despite the challenges posed by the disease. It’s a story of resilience, courage, and the transformative power of adapting to new realities.

This project was made possible through the support of Johnson & Johnson Healthcare France.
