Following the 7th World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension, a review published in the European Respiratory Journal summarises the current understanding of Pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD). It covers the condition’s clinical features, underlying biology, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, while flagging diagnostic challenges — from overlapping symptoms to the lack of specific biomarkers and the need for invasive right heart catheterisation. The authors call for better biomarkers, imaging tools and personalised, multidisciplinary care, alongside further research to support evidence-based guidelines for this complex patient group.
