In his inaugural speech Prof. Marc Humbert, newly elected President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), makes the case for patient-centric medicine

Congratulations to Prof. Marc Humbert for his election as President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS). Prof. Humbert has published more than 700 peer-reviewed articles, mostly in the field of pulmonary hypertension, and is widely considered one of the world TLs in pulmonary hypertension. In his inaugural speech Prof. Humbert said he would continue to forge a strong relationship between the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Reference Network for the lung (ERN-LUNG) – a partnership which produces essential guidelines and education around rare diseases – and which includes patient representatives. We are delighted to hear about his commitment to patient-centric medicine: “ERS works very closely with the European Lung Foundation to ensure that the patient perspective is included across multiple projects, and I strongly support the work that our organisations do in unison to ensure the patient is at the centre of what we do.”
