John Vane Memorial Symposium on Prostacyclin Science and Pulmonary Vascular Disease, London, March 15-16, 2024

The first John Vane Memorial Symposium on Prostacyclin Science and Pulmonary Vascular Disease was held in London, UK, 2006 to honour the memory of Sir John Vane, the founder of the William Harvey Research Institute and Nobel prize Laureate for his discovery of prostacyclin and its analogues (see also our article at this link). It is now in its 19th year and is established as a leading event in the yearly pulmonary arterial hypertension scientific calndar.

This year’s event, which took place in London on March 15 and 16, delved into the latest advancements in research and treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension. Topics discussed included exploring the functional abnormalities of the right ventricle, innovative approaches for invasive methods and remote monitoring, the pharmacology and clinical implications of inhibiting activin signaling and triple drug combinations in pulmonary arterial hypertension. Additionally some of the themes of the 7th World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension in Barcelona in 2024 were also touched upon.
