The UK Pulmonary Association’s “Listening Line” support service provides dedicated time to talk through worries or concerns about emotional or mental wellbeing

The “Listening Line” is a free, confidential supportive call service is available to all members of the UK Pulmonary Hypertension Association, PHA UK, their family and friends. It is operated by experienced PHA UK staff, who are retired from the National Health Service (NHS). They are skilled and patient listeners, with many years of experience of helping people affected by pulmonary hypertension.

Examples of what the Listening Line can help you with:

  • Adapting to a diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension
  • How to talk to family or friends about pulmonary hypertension
  • Coping with changes
  • Concerns about the future
  • Worries about loved ones
  • How to access supportive palliative care

What the “Listening Line” cannot help with:

  • Personal medical advice
  • Medical referrals or speeding up existing appointments/referrals
  • Specialist mental health support

CONFIDENTIALITY: Nothing discussed during the calls will be shared without the express permission of the service user. The only exception is where we may have concerns about someone’s safety. Your contact details will be kept on file so that any member of the PHA UK team can contact you for admin purposes related to this service, for example in the event of having to reschedule a call.
