Orgamites, a free global educational program about organ donation and transplantation for children aged 5-11, now being started in UK schools

The “Orgamites Mighty Education Programme” is a free global organ donation and health education programme for children aged 5-11. It uses educational resources, tools, toys, and tech to inspire and equip more students, teachers, and families everywhere to talk more about organ donation and how to take better care of our health. The Orgamites programme was created in 2012 by Roydon Turner in the United Kingdom.

Turner recently shared a BBC One Show video on LinkedIn highlighting the Orgamites programme for primary schools as a potential solution to the UK’s declining organ donation consent rates. He emphasizes that discussing organ donation with family members is crucial, and that these conversations are more likely to occur when initiated by children. Turner suggests that educating students about organ donation could have a significant and measurable impact on donation rates, as tracked by NHSBT. Turner says that creating fun, engaging programmes that inspire diversity, kindness and inclusion can significantly contribute to solving our societal challenges.
