My journey with pulmonary hypertension: From diagnosis to thriving, Hall Skaara, International Journal of Cardiology Congenital Heart Disease, March 2025

Hall Skaara is a pulmonary arterial hypertension patient. His article about life as a patient has been published in the International Journal of Cardiology: Congenital Heart Disease.

Hall was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension after cardiac issues and two ablations, but has transformed his diagnosis into an opportunity to help others. Despite physical limitations, he adapted his lifestyle, finding new passions like backgammon, where he became Norwegian champion. He founded Norway’s first pulmonary hypertension association and contributed significantly to the European patient community through PHA Europe. His experience highlights the importance of early diagnosis, low-intensity exercise, and disease acceptance. Nineteen years after diagnosis, his physical capacity has nearly doubled, demonstrating that a fulfilling life is possible even with a serious illness.

Quoting Hall “living with a chronic condition comes with many challenges, but also moments of resilience, adaptation, and hope. In this piece, I share my journey to raise awareness and start conversations around patient experiences.”

Thank you Hall for sharing your story of transforming challenge into purpose and supporting patients across Europe. It inspires everyone facing difficult diagnoses.
