Introducing the Alliance for Pulmonary Hypertension’s New Board of Directors 2026-2029
We are proud to introduce the new Board of the Alliance for Pulmonary Hypertension — a group of dedicated patient advocates bringing decades of combined experience to our mission of improving life for people living with pulmonary hypertension across the world.
Pisana Ferrari, President
Diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension in 1988 and a double lung transplant recipient since 2002, Pisana has been a patient advocate for pulmonary hypertension and organ donation/transplant since 2001. She has a background in Political Science and International Relations and has worked in communication and event management for the last 30+ years. Pisana is Co-Founder and President of the Italian Pulmonary Hypertension Association, AIPI.
Louise Bouman van der Waal, Vice President
Diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension in 2008, Louise holds degrees in Oral Healthcare and Marketing and has built a career in sales and marketing within the pharmaceutical and medical industry. She is President of the Dutch Pulmonary Hypertension Foundation (Stichting Pulmonale Hypertensie), is a EUPATI Fellow since 2022, and holds several advocacy positions at EU level.
Ioanna Alyssandratou, Treasurer
Diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension in 2010, Ioanna left a career as a financial advisor and has been a patient advocate since 2012. In 2013 she founded the Hellenic Community for Pulmonary Hypertension, serving Greek and Cypriot patients and caregivers, where she remains President and volunteer CEO. She is a Founding Member of AfPH.
Laure Rosé, Secretary
A retired teacher with a degree in Education Sciences, Laure was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension in 1998 and received a double lung transplant in 2021. She is the former President (2016–2020) and Vice-President of HTaPFrance, the French PH association, and a founding member of two European patient associations.
Together, this Board carries forward AfPH’s mission: amplifying the patient voice, sharing knowledge about pulmonary hypertension and connecting pulmonary hypertension communities across the world.
A very big thank you to Luc Matthysen, who has completed two mandates as AfPH Treasurer! Luc has a background in engineering, having worked in construction across the Middle East and in medical PVC with Solvay, Belgium. He is a EUPATI Fellow and Founding Member of the AfPH.
